For those who want to see the city from above

The best terraces in Turin

When in Turin we say «terrace», we do not think only of rooftops. There are the rooftops overlooking the palaces of the centre, the hill and the Alps, but also gardens, outdoor seating areas and venues along the Po where you can stop for an aperitif or an open-air dinner. In this selection you will find both options: from the Intesa Sanpaolo skyscraper to the terraces of the hotels in the centre, from the riverbanks to the spaces carved out of old industrial buildings.

It is not a route to follow from the first stop to the last. Rather, choose the stop that suits the evening, perhaps combining it with a visit to the neighbourhood. The venues are scattered between the centre, San Salvario, Borgo Po, Lingotto and Barriera di Milano. From our B&B some places along the Po can be reached on foot; for the more distant ones we recommend public transport.

You can devote a couple of hours to an aperitif, stay for dinner or look for a fine view. Some spaces are seasonal and the hotel terraces may have access arrangements different from those of their respective restaurants. Management, names and opening hours can change: before setting off, check that the place is still open and that it is possible to book.

On foot

  1. Piano 35 terrace - Lounge bar

    Piano 35

About 150 metres above Turin, the Piano35 restaurant is surrounded by a bioclimatic greenhouse with Mediterranean plants and large windows. It occupies the thirty-fifth floor of the Intesa Sanpaolo skyscraper, near Porta Susa station. The building, designed by Renzo Piano's studio, was opened in 2015 and also houses a panoramic lounge bar on the thirty-seventh floor.

From these spaces you can see the city, the hills and, with a clear sky, the mountains. It is not, however, a public terrace with free access: the view is enjoyed through the restaurant services or during initiatives that allow access to the upper floors.

A lunch or dinner at the gourmet restaurant, or a cocktail at the lounge bar higher up: these are two different ways of experiencing this terrace, depending on the services available. By day, if the sky is clear, the mountains stand out more clearly. After sunset, instead, it is the pattern of Turin's lit-up streets that draws the eye.

  2. Carlina Restaurant & Bar

    Carlina Restaurant & Bar

From piazza Carlo Emanuele II your gaze reaches up to the fifth floor of the NH Collection Torino Piazza Carlina, housed in a historic building in the centre. Up there are two panoramic terraces with views over the rooftops of the historic centre, the hill and the Mole Antonelliana.

The detail we like is the small roof garden with aromatic plants, including lavender: here the scent of greenery is added to the view. It is an intimate setting, different from the larger and busier terraces of the big hotels.

The Carlina Restaurant & Bar completes the offer with breakfasts, contemporary cuisine and cocktails. For aperitifs and evenings on the terrace, it is the hotel that sets the arrangements for access and booking.

  3. Terrace of the Lingotto track

The Terrace of the Turin Palace Hotel

From the top floor of the Turin Palace Hotel, the Porta Nuova district is seen from a different perspective. The station is right opposite the hotel, which occupies an 1870 building, restored and turned into a contemporary hotel. The terrace measures about 500 square metres, is divided into three areas and offers a view that reaches as far as the Alps, the hill and the Basilica di Superga.

In the warm season it is a place to stop with a cocktail, a craft beer or a glass of Piedmont wine, looking down also on the neighbourhood around the station.

The hotel also houses Les Petites Madeleines, the restaurant led by chef Giuseppe Lisciotto, who reworks Piedmont and Italian cuisine in a contemporary key. Aperitifs and drinks on the terrace depend on the availability communicated by the hotel.

  4. Lentini's Garden

    Lentini's Garden

An iron staircase leads to the summer terrace of Lentini's Garden, which looks out towards the Turin hill. The setting is that of an old coach house on corso Moncalieri, completely renovated to host the outdoor space of the Lentini's restaurant. It has kept a retro-industrial character, with furnishings and details reminiscent of American venues of the 1950s and the atmosphere of New York's Chelsea Market.

On the terrace you will find the restaurant and lounge bar areas: an option for dining or having a cocktail outdoors during the warm season. If you are looking for a place to spend the evening without going too far from the banks of the Po, keep it in mind.

  5. Azhar Dinner & Club

    Azhar Dinner & Club

Anyone looking for an evening outdoors near the Po could choose Azhar, on corso Moncalieri, in the Cavoretto area. The terrace looked out towards the river and the green spaces helped create a setting different from that of the venues in the city centre.

You could start with an aperitif or dinner and carry on with music until late in the evening. Azhar in fact combined dining with the dinner club formula, with musical events and entertainment during the warm season.

We tell you about it in the past tense because in September 2026 Azhar closed down for good. The terrace can no longer be visited and the venue therefore cannot be a destination for your evening.

  6. Eria Food Lab Torino

    Eria Food Lab Torino

Among the streets of San Salvario, in via San Pio V, Eria Food Lab had a raised terrace, set apart from the streets of the neighbourhood. The pergola, the plants and the lights made it a pleasant space for milder evenings. From up there you could also see the nearby synagogue, a rather unusual outlook for a city terrace.

The cuisine ranged across various Mediterranean and Middle Eastern traditions: tapas, platters, hummus and Greek specialities, also accompanied by organic teas and infusions. It was a place to stop for something to eat or drink, away from the bustle of the streets below.

The business at this address, however, appears to be closed, so the terrace is not currently a destination you can visit.

  7. Terrace of the Lingotto track

    The Lingotto

To understand why the Lingotto has remained so recognisable, two things are enough: the helical ramps and the test track on the roof. In the former Fiat factory, designed by the engineer Giacomo Mattè Trucco from the 1910s onwards and inaugurated in 1923, newly built cars were tested on a circuit on the roof. The ramps that allowed the cars to climb up there are still in place.

After the transformation of the complex, designed by Renzo Piano, the track became the Pista 500: since 2022 it has housed a roof garden and an open-air exhibition route, curated by the Pinacoteca Agnelli, with contemporary art installations. Access follows the Pinacoteca's visiting arrangements.

The contrast makes up much of the charm of this stop: on top of a building conceived to produce and test cars there is now a green space, and the ramps and the track hold the two eras together without needing much explanation. If the track looks familiar, it is because in 1969 the Mini chase of The Italian Job was filmed here: we talk about it in the itinerary <a href="/en/itineraries-in-turin/cinematic-turin-22/">Cinematic Turin.

Here the terrace is not that of a hotel or a restaurant. You can walk along part of the old circuit, find the banked curves where the cars under testing used to pass and come across the contemporary works. It is not a place designed around the aperitivo: the visit is above all about the recovery of an industrial space, now open to the public as a place of art and landscape.

  8. Otium Rooftop terrace

    Otium Rooftop

A cantilevered pool and hot tubs surrounded by greenery: on the top floor of Green Pea, in the Lingotto district, Otium Rooftop offers something different from the usual terrace for an aperitif. From the outdoor spaces the view reaches the Turin hills and the Alps, while inside you will find the restaurant and the cocktail bar.

In the warm season you can also use the pool and the hot tubs, but the venue can be visited for a cocktail, lunch or dinner even when the pool is not in operation.

Bear in mind that the pool services have their own access and booking arrangements, separate from those of the restaurant and the bar.

  9. Casa Goffi

    Casa Goffi

A table under the pergola, greenery all around and the Po in front of you: Casa Goffi is a place to keep in mind when you feel like having dinner or an aperitif outdoors. It is on viale Michelotti, not far from the Ponte Sassi, and brings together a garden, furnished areas for relaxing, bar spaces and a selection of food and cocktails.

It is not a raised terrace from which to look at the city's rooftops. Here the view is of the river, away from the busiest roads, in a setting particularly suited to the warm season.

You do not need to be a member of a private club to get in. From our B&B, moreover, it is one of the most convenient destinations to reach with a walk.

  10. Edit Garden

    Edit Garden

A craft beer outdoors, a small market or a cultural event: EDIT Garden is one of those stops you choose for the atmosphere and for what goes on there, rather than for the view. In piazza Teresa Noce, in the Barriera di Milano district, the garden covers about 440 square metres and is part of EDIT Torino, a complex devoted to food, craft beer and cultural events, with a brewery and a pub.

Here you can stop for a drink or a bite to eat, or take part in the music events and meetings hosted in the spaces of the complex.

All around is a district of industrial origin, today the subject of many regeneration and building-reuse projects. A stop at the garden can be a chance to get to know a less touristy part of Turin.

  11. Kogin's Club

    Kogin’s Club

A terrace over the Po, dinner or a drink outdoors and, later on, music and dancing: this was what the Kogin's Club, in corso Sicilia, offered. The venue combined dining, aperitifs and musical entertainment, with a panoramic terrace overlooking the river.

Its position along the banks of the Po was what set it apart from the nightclubs in the more central parts of Turin. You could spend the first part of the evening outdoors and then carry on with the music, which took centre stage in the later hours.

The Kogin's Club is now permanently closed. It is therefore no longer possible to visit the terrace or to consider it a destination for a night out in the city.
